| Message | I had almost the same kinda accident, except I took out a Mustang in the process. We all had plenty of space between us, but he hit the Buick in front of him and I nosedived underneath his car. When the guy in front of you goes from 60-0 in less than 2 seconds, somebody is gonna get hit. I didn’t get stopped until he was halfway up my hood. All I could think was that I was going to die with “Mustang” tattooed to my forehead (closed casket), but luckily the car stopped by the time his rear tires were in my headlights. The worst part was that I had to put my car in reverse and pull my car out from underneath his. My tires were squealing and the noise of the metal scraping was sickening. The insurance estimate was $4500+, but thanks to the info posted all over TT.net, the Search function, and Ray at CD Motorsports, I should be able to keep the total repair cost below $2K, and that’s with used headlights, a new hood, new fender and a new JSpec fascia. The biggest pain was getting the headlights in/out and realigning the support braces to make everything fit properly. I had a cycle: 1) install all of the panels, 2) see which panels needed to be realigned, 3) take everything off, 4) pull/push on specific braces, 5) put everything back on, and 6) repeat until aligned. If you take your time, it will definitely be worth it. Its taken me over five months of repair in my garage, but most of that was--15 minutes of repair work, stop to take out the trash, run to the store, etc. If you’re not married, you should be able to get everything back together in about 3 days. Its not impossible to fix on your own, but you gotta have patience. If you go with all stock used parts, and you do all of the repair and installation yourself (other than paint), you may be able to get the cost down to about $1000, with paint. Good Luck.
